Charging electric vehicles
August 2023 - CQRA Ltd is currently exploring the possibility of installing the infrastructure to efficiently charge electric vehicles in the car parks. This may also require an upgrade to the power infrastructure serving Charter Quay to handle the increased load.
Some developments that currently offer car charging facilities often hide the important detail that the capacity is limited and only a few cars can be effectively charged at any one time. This is fine whilst only a handful of residents have electric cars, but will quickly lead to frustration as the uptake of electric vehicles increase. This is something we want to avoid in Charter Quay.
It should also be noted that alternative solutions may quickly develop. Technology around electric vehicles is moving fast, so it is uncertain that home charging - which is not practical for many in the UK - will be the preferred option in a few years anyway.
